Glass
Many different options available, starting from our standard Low E2 all the way up to our Suncoat Max and triple pane 4 coat Low E systems.
Choosing the Right Glass
Arizona presents some unique challenges due to the extreme desert heat. Here are some things to keep in mind when choosing class for your next exterior door or window project:
- Tinted glass works great for controlling heat gain and glare.
- Use Low-E2 for controlling solar heat gain when the glass will recieve direct sunlight.
- Argon gas can be a cost effective drop in u-factor when hot temperatures, not direct sunlight is the challenge.
- Use Low E 366 for maximum heat gain performance.
A Few Considerations
- When using tints, specify the same thickness of glass within any single viewing area or room. The thicker the glass -- the darker the tint appears.
- All Low-E products have a slight color and in certain light conditions can appear slightly reflective.
- Pay close attention to orientation of the home. The South and West facing walls will have the greatest exposure to the sun.
- Walls, overhangs, exterior shades or shrubs and trees can help to block out the heat of the sun.
